We are excited to announce that Dapresy will be the Premier Sponsor of the ROI from Insights Measurement Handbook we will be releasing later this year. The handbook will offer practical guidance on measuring the ROI from Insights and demonstrating business impact. The handbook will build on the quantitative and qualitative research GRBN is currently undertaking on this topic in partnership with the Boston Consulting Group.
Beth Rounds, Dapresy CMO, comments on the partnership:
“We agree that delivering value and a solid ROI makes good business sense. If we are truly going to satisfy the c-suite, then we must consider how best to measure the ROI on insights delivered – no excuses! That is why we are joining forces with GRBN on this important project. All of us along the value chain need to step up and accept the challenge – only then will we achieve the impact we so desire! “
Why the handbook is needed?
Whilst demand for customer insights is growing within many corporations, as they become more customer-focused in their strategies, many Insights teams are experiencing a lot of pressure on their budgets, and are therefore struggling to meet the internal demand and in turn demanding more for less from their suppliers.
From the many discussions we have had with client-side Insights leaders, we know that measuring the ROI from Insights can be an effective way for Insights teams to demonstrate their impact on the business, as well as to encourage further investment in Insights, both in terms of budget and headcount.
The 2015 Future of Insights research conducted out by BCG, Cambiar and Yale University tell us, however, that only one-third of Insights teams are currently measuring their ROI. The ROI from Insights Measurement handbook is therefore being designed to provide client-side Insights teams with a framework for measuring ROI and demonstrating their business impact.
“Insights can only have an ROI if acted upon”
The handbook will cover how business impact and ROI can be measured across a number of different business decision areas. It will also explore the organizational and process management issues, since these are just as critical as the measurement techniques themselves.
A recurring theme during the discussions with Insights Leaders on the topic of the ROI from Insights is that insights can only hope to have an ROI if they are acted upon. Therefore, it is of critical importance to have the processes and tools in place to deliver the data and insights to the decision-makers at the right time and in the right format for them to use to inform their decisions.
One size fits all? Definitely not
What is clear from the research we have conducted, is that this is not a “one size fits all” solution. The solution will need to vary for each company based on organizational and cultural issues, as well as data availability and metrics sophistication. The framework will help Insights teams design the right measurement system to meet their specific situation and needs.
What is also clear is that this is not a magic wand or black-box solution, and the successful measurement of the ROI from Insights is just as much art as science. Whilst, of course, it is important to measure direct financial ROI where that is possible, it is also important to deploy softer metrics and weave an enlightening story telling the business impact of Insights.
